Brief History-- by First Citizen Ross Wolfe

The following is an account of the founding, growth, and major events that helped to shape the political landscape of the most powerful and influential socialist region in the NationStates world. Being a student of history myself, it seems common knowledge that by writing these memoirs, there will be an unwritten bias, however small it may be. Knowing the effect that a slant can give on any document or piece of writing, I will strive to present all information as clearly as my mind can recall it, so that the member nations of the Proletariat Coalition and otherwise might be able to assess the facts subjectively. It will be released in segments, for ease of navigation, and also so that as much attention can be paid to detail as possible. I will try to avoid generalizations or simplifications of events and make sure that no part is abbreviated.

I hope to give all the member nations of the Proletariat Coalition a sense of the tradition and honor that they inherit in becoming a member of our region. I do not want this, however, to become a mindless, hopelessly one-sided State release to glorify our region to any extent that truth does not merit. This is for reference, and for precedent, and for those who are simply interested in our region's development. And so, without any further ado, enjoy!

Beginnings to the Anticapitalist Alliance-- by First Citizen Ross Wolfe

To accurately tell of the founding of the Proletariat Coalition, the founding of Haderan and its subsequent search for a home region cannot go unmentioned. This is by no means an attempt at self-glorification; it instead will provide some of the reasons behind the foundation of our present region. Haderan was bourne approximately 3 months ago, sometime in early March, when the NationStates world was still in its middle phase of existance. It was made upon the principles of equality and socialism, in order to prove for all other nations to behold the practicality of Marxist doctrine in the economy of a prospering nation. I, the First Citizen of Haderan, was elected to the head of our young state, with broad allowances for power within my own country. Immediately, I set to work.

The United Socialist States of Haderan would, for the time being, be my greatest ambition. New laws were passed, and thereafter enforced according to the will of the people of our fair country. Though throughout our beginnings Haderan struggled with creating valid and functional economic balances in a domestic setting, with perseverance, our nation lifted itself from the general poverty it had found itself in. Sweeping legislation was used to govern the people of my nation, in order to the ensure their basic civil rights and to push forward the socialist agenda. It must be said that through the inner workings of my own country, I learned much of how to lead on a more worldwide scale.

On to more relevant material: As was the norm for newly-created nations in the NationStates world, Haderan had been by default moved into the original Pacific region, an ideologically fractured and purposeless region. Different U.N. Nations vied for control of the seat of the Delegacy, blindly handing out their endorsements and whoring their true beliefs for the sole glory of the position. Power changed hands almost weekly, and the unaffiliated nations around Haderan created a veritable sea of discord and disunity. It soon became apparent to me, being the First Citizen of Haderan and always trying to have the best interests of my people in mind, that the Pacific would not suffice as a home for our region.

By this time, the dedication with which the people of Haderan had performed to this point had become evident to the members of the United Nations, and our nation was brought up for consideration in the membership in the multinational organization. After a few days' deliberation, Haderan was accepted as a new member of the U.N. This would be a vital step towards the eventual prominence of my position in worldly and regional affairs.

I realized that it had come time to leave the sprawling mass of the Pacific behind, and find a new region of like-minded nations to inhabit. We had received a multitude of generalized invitations to different regions, including the then-sizable Woldgate and Dutchia. With the backing of my people, the United Socialist States of Haderan set out on a period of exploration that has since become known as "The Nomadic Period" of our history. We first settled in Dutchia, but soon found the residents of the region to be uncontrolled and aimless. Woldgate, our next home, was slightly more unified, with a strong central leadership supported by numerous endorsements. There was, however, something distinctly lacking, and that was any direction of belief tying the nations to any cause.

And so it came to pass that I would set out in search for a region more suited to the plight of the citizens of Haderan. While searching for a region in the regional listings, I came upon a place that would eventually straighten the course of my nation and its place in history. This place was the Anticapitalist Alliance, and it would change everything.

Anticapitalist Alliance and Self-Exodus-- by First Citizen Ross Wolfe

Upon arriving in the Anticapitalist Alliance, the region was the flourishing center of the international socialist movement, home to 147 nations, at the time. Since then, it has somewhat declined in size, but remains a vital force in leftist politics to this day, being the oldest and most valued ally of the Proletariat Coalition. It was a crossroads in my career, and I soon found my outlook to be profoundly changed by the level of involvement by the nations of their region. Intelligent, reasoned discussion frequented their regional message board, and the high level of organization allowed action to be taken decisively to deal with issues important to their region. I was in awe of the dedication with which the members of the Anticapitalist Alliance devoted themselves to their cause, and found myself acquiring the same sense of duty.

The Delegate of the Anticapitalist Alliance at that time was the Republic of Celdonia, who led the region with a fair and involved hand. The President of their nation, whom I had the pleasure of meeting with on several occasions, was universally adored by his people and respected by the member nations of their regional organization. He was to be an inspiration to me, and the symbol of my idolatry in my regional political career, which was to follow. To this day, I strive to the same levels of authority and wisdom that Celdonia had with the nations of the world. I studied his tactics and emulated his methods during my stay in their region.

Specifically, I found his constant addresses to the nations of the Anticapitalist Alliance to be essential to the vitality of the region. Consulting the member nations of his region allowed for a feeling of importance to the nations inside his region, and provided a more definite course of action. His explanations of his reasoning for voting in U.N. Proposals also was a major force in his Delegacy, and I, in particular, emulated in my later days as the Regional Delegate of the Proletariat Coalition.

For a week's time, I involved myself in the politics of the region. My nation flourished in the new environment, but it became ever more apparent that there was a seeming seniority of power, which created a shiftless and static regional infrastructure. Though I remained very much attuned to the region's overall ideals, I became ever more disillusioned with the organization of the region's management, outside of the strong Delegacy of Celdonia. I pondered for a time what could be done to amend this situation.

It was during this time that my vision of the Proletariat Coalition took hold. I announced my plans to leave the region, and set forth the basic guidelines of the Proletariat Coalition. It was to be heralded as a new beginning for socialist nations, an opportunity for younger nations to take a more prominent role in regional politics, and to expand the powerbase of leftist thought in U.N. Delegate issues. This did not come without bitterness, as I was soon to find.

Many of the nations of the Anticapitalist Alliance denounced me as being a power-hungry upstart, with no real goals for international socialism, but being driven more by ambition and self-interest. To these accusations of careerist resolve, I responded with cordial etiquette, and held my own against the torrent of criticisms. The nations that did feel me to be megalomaniacal, they were wrong in many respects, and in a very minor way, right in others. It has been my goal in politics to achieve all of my desires through shrewd political maneuvering, in order to promote my beliefs and thoughts about Marxist theory. Without this resolve, however, the Proletariat Coalition would not have existed, and the course of history would be much changed.

A new age was dawning in the NationStates world, one that would leave its indent to the modern day, as our region continues its unquestioned dominance of the socialist movement.
